News Letter May 2017

May has always been a special month for RAYS as it marks the beginning of the long awaited summer holidays. This month began with a very special Mother’s day celebration, which is a long standing RAYS tradition. The children make beautiful cards to express their gratitude to every woman who takes care of them like a mother. Followed by this was a trekking trip to Galta Ji, which is a beautiful temple located in the outskirts of Jaipur. It was organised by our very own RAYS extended family. The children left early morning and had a beautiful day full of adventures and excitement.

This month also marked a big change in the RAYs family. The last week of this month was super busy as the home for our lovely girls which was earlier located inside shyam nagar has been moved to the main Janpath road. The new address for our girls home is B-96, Janpath, Shyam Nagar. Moving into this new house brought us one step closer to providing our children with more comfort and open spaces to spend their play time.

Since this month is all about holidays and having fun, the RAYS extended family also organised a one day trip for our children. They went to popular forts in Rajasthan and spent the day travelling and learning about the heritage of the state. It turned out to be one of the most memorable days for our children at RAYS.
May is also a busy month as we meet a lot of people who are willing to volunteer during this time, the children spend a lot of time meeting new people and learning something new from each one of them. The children also participated in a drawing contest on World Environment Day and performed beautifully. Our children have always been taught the importance of preserving the environment and follow this as a daily life practice.

The children also continued with their extra-curricular activities and are learning singing and dancing. For our elder children who are now in 12th, they have been enrolled into coaching centres and are being sent for their classes everyday to ensure their 12th board results make them eligible to apply to their choice of colleges. Some of the children are also preparing for competitive exams which will help them in becoming more eligible for jobs after their education.
