Making a Difference

Bringing about a change does not happen overnight. It takes days, weeks, months, or even years to build a forum that aligns with what needs to be done. When we had set out on this journey we knew it would take a substantial amount of effort, yet, with the support of people, here we are helping more than 50 underprivileged children, to help make their lives a success story.

Volunteer

We believe that there is no joy greater in the world than the joy of helping and giving back. Our hearts feel complete when we receive applications for volunteers, and our will to work even more complex and pushing our boundaries gets stronger. We have and always will welcome people coming forward to help those in need and sharing their valuable time and effort with us. As they say, out of all the things in the world, your time is the most precious thing you can offer to someone, and we ultimately uphold the idea.

We encourage young people to join us on our mission to change the lives of many HIV positive children for the good, and we are more than grateful to have received immense support over the years. We still encourage more and more volunteers to come on board with us and share their support for the cause.

By becoming a volunteer, you help the cause and become a part of our social ecosystem. In addition, you get to interact with fellow activists and develop a network of like-minded people.

Trusts and Foundations

There is nothing like receiving support from fellow foundations pursuing the same agenda as you, making a change. We receive immense support from other trusts and foundations, and we call ourselves blessed to have gotten consistent aid and support from these organizations. Over the years, many such trusts and foundations have shown confidence in us, believed in our vision to bring about a change and contributed their efforts and time to building blocks to let us achieve milestones.
We have always believed in developing this society and making inclusion a prevalent concept favouring HIV positive children and providing them with the best amenities to have them equipped with the basics of life. We’ve been very fortunate to have companions along this journey to hold our hands and telling us that we are not alone, and keeping us assured of their unwavering support.
Reaching here, after having you with us, we welcome more trusts and foundations to help us progress and proceed further on our path to help and craft a beautiful and fulfilling life for more HIV positive children. You can become a part of the plan by registering yourself and making donations.

Corporates

Many of our donations come from companies and established organizations, making their contribution towards building a better society. We have been supported by many such corporate entities who have been instrumental in making Rays NGO a massive success, helping us at every step of our path.
We encourage more companies to step forward and help us develop a better infrastructure to help us serve better.
Most of our corporate contributors have been a part of Rays to fulfil their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). We are beyond grateful to have them along on our journey. We feel highly empowered with their support, and the fact that they have chosen to support this cause has been overwhelming.
We encourage more companies to come together and take a step to help make the lives of these children better than ever. So, if you are a company, reach out to us and become a part of a revolution.

Individuals

“The strength of the team is each member. The strength of each member is the team.”

~ Phil Jackson

As rightly quoted by Phil Jackson, success can only be achieved when it is combined with individual efforts.
We have had been fortunate to receive support from many individuals who have donated to the cause and made us what we are today through their contributions. In addition, many individuals, public figures, and reputed people have been a part of Rays NGO and have been pivotal in helping these children get access to basic amenities.
We would be glad if you also want to come on board and help the cause. You can reach out to us and become a part of our charitable trust.

Achievements

HIV+ children are still discriminated against in many parts of the world. HIV is not a death sentence anymore, but HIV positive people experience higher rates of poverty and HIV related stigma. HIV positives have less access to educational opportunities which often lead to their inability to progress past primary school level or find jobs that provide enough income for themselves and their family. But this was not always so! There are many success stories about HIV + kids who not only succeeded academically but also found ways to help other HIV + children get an education too!

– As an HIV positive student in the United States, young Thomas was so scared to tell his friends that he had HIV. But one day, when they were talking about HIV and AIDS in science class at school, he plucked up courage and told them all. And do you know what? His classmates supported him 100%! They didn’t treat him any differently and even invited Thomas to play with them during recess.

– HIV+ children in Africa also experience a lot of stigma and discrimination from their teachers, classmates and other people around them. But not every HIV child is ignorant or stuck up! Some HIV + boys like David Omondi are working hard towards the fight against AIDS stigma in Africa. David Omondi is HIV positive himself and has been living with the virus for 15 years. But this hasn’t stopped him from continuing education, becoming a role model to other HIV + kids and helping them stay in school!

– HIV+ children are not always discriminated against by their classmates or teachers. Some HIV positives like Nadia Eke are even more popular than HIV negatives! HIV positive Nadia is a student in Uganda and she has never missed school. She’s very active, gets good grades and wants to study medicine when she finishes her education so that HIV + children can get proper medical care too

– Adekunle Wuraola was only 12 years old when doctors diagnosed him HIV positive. But this hasn’t stopped Wuraola from dreaming big and working hard to achieve those dreams! He’s HIV +, but he doesn’t let it hold him back because HIV can be managed with proper treatment nowadays. Adekunle is a student at Covenant University where he studies computer science engineering and plans on becoming a computer programmer when he graduates.

These stories have inspired us at NGO RAYS- Aasha ki Ek Kiran, to help craft better lives for our children, to destigmatize the malady, and to help them achieve a better and improved outlook. The proof is in the pudding and we are proud to share the academic achievements of our children.
